EPIRBS / PLB's

EPIRBs (Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons) are completely self-contained radio transmitters designed for emergency use. When activated, they transmit an internationally recognised distress signal. They are designed to be used when the safety of you, your aircraft or your crew is endangered and you have no other means of communication.

After you purchase a 406 MHz beacon you MUST register this unique code with your local rescue co-ordination authority (see below for details) so that, if an emergency occurs and you need to activate your beacon, the authorities will have immediate access to your name, your emergency contacts and the type of vessel or craft you are in.

We supply a copy of this form with every PLB shipped however it can also be downloaded from http://www.amsa.gov.au/Forms/amsa6.pdf
